Energy-saving Passiv Smart Thermostat using Develco Products' Squid.link gateway to be presented at Homes UK
Controlling and optimizing the performance of heat pumps can be challenging for both users and installers.
Earlier this year, smart energy technology company Passiv UK launched their Passiv Smart Thermostat – the first thermostat designed specifically for controlling heat pumps.
Using Develco Products’ Squid.link gateway as the intelligent data controller to enable their smart heat pump controls, the Passiv Smart Thermostat can reduce heating bills by up to 30 % and improve the efficiency of a heat pump by 17 % (as verified by the Energy Saving Trust).
Passiv UK’s new innovation has been presented at several events already and on November 27, Passiv UK is presenting the heat pump-optimizing solution at the large UK housing event Homes UK in London.
An important step toward low-carbon low-cost heating
With the increase in heat pumps installed and unpredictable energy prices, better control and utilization of heat pumps is an important step in the direction of achieving net-zero in heating while lowering energy costs for users:
“With the Government targeting 600,000 heat pump installations a year by 2028 and the recent sharp rise in energy prices, it’s more important than ever that heat pumps are installed with controls that optimize them”, says Ian Rose, Sales & Strategy Director at Passiv UK.
According to Ian Rose, Develco Products has been an important part of Passiv’s growth and development over the recent years with the Squid.link gateway playing a central part in Passiv UK’s smart energy technology:
“Working alongside Develco Products has allowed us to focus on developing our market-leading smart control algorithms while relying on Develco Products to provide specially designed hardware that enables the whole system to operate effectively”.
Passiv UK is a market-leader in net zero-projects, and the Passiv Smart Thermostat is the result of over 10 years of research and development in low-carbon heating.
