Ensure healthy indoor air at seniors’ homes

Seniors often spend a large part of their days inside their homes. Especially with vulnerable seniors, it is crucial that the indoor environment is not harmful to their health. By including an Air Quality Sensor in your home care solution, you can help to ensure a perfectly healthy environment.

With IoT technology, it is possible to monitor different particles and properties of indoor air – for example VOC levels, humidity, or temperature. The Zigbee-based Air Quality Sensor can oversee the indoor air quality and send a notification via your home care system if the air quality changes.

Help avoid negative health effects caused by VOC

VOCs are volatile organic compounds that can be found in indoor air. They are emitted from a wide range of materials and products such as paint, cleaning agents, or cosmetic products. VOCs include several organic chemicals that can, in high levels, be harmful to a person’s health. For instance, health effects can be irritation in the throat, eye, and nose, as well as more severe effects such as damages to the kidney, liver, and central nervous system.

With an Air Quality Sensor monitoring these levels, your customers will know when they need to open a window to get some fresh air and avoid any negative health effects.

Protect your customers from dry/humid air

Another important factor in indoor air is humidity levels. Humid air can cause mold, which in turn can cause adverse health effects like asthma. If the air is too dry, this can also affect people’s wellbeing as dry air can lead to respiratory issues.

The Air Quality Sensor also monitors humidity and helps your customers to keep the right levels of humidity in their homes. Via your home care solution, the sensor can be connected to (de)humidifiers or heating systems to automatically regulate indoor humidity.

Keep the perfect temperature levels

For a healthy indoor environment, it is important to keep the temperature at the right level. Especially seniors are often sensitive to temperature changes. The Air Quality Sensor monitors temperature and can, together with an intelligent heating or ventilation system, make sure that the home is always at the right temperature and your customers feel comfortable.
