As technologies advance and solutions are expected to cover a broader variety of use cases, the demand for more powerful solutions grows. With more powerful solutions, also comes the need for improved hardware that is able to handle the higher tech requirements. For this purpose, we are launching the new Squid.link 2X.
Squid.link 2X is a highly powerful gateway suitable for large scale IoT solutions. Its powerful ARM Cortex-A7 1.0 GHz Dual-Core CPU allows you to run complex applications, such as artificial intelligence-based applications, or multiple applications at the same time.
Squid.link 2X supports Zigbee 3.0, Z-Wave Plus, Wireless M-Bus, LTE, Bluetooth Low Energy, Bluetooth 5, and WLAN HAN networks. You have the option of adding a SIM card slot for a single or dual Micro SIM, eSIM, or a Micro and eSIM.
The gateway offers two memory options and 4 GB of flash memory. For additional flash memory, you can include an optional Micro SD card slot.
Keep data private and secure
Squid.link 2X allows you to add hardware-accelerated encryption to ensure data privacy. By adding one of the three compatible hardware chips, you can provide your customers with a highly secure IoT platform. On top of this, you can add the optional MFi chip to certify your solution with Apple.
With a hardware chip, you can ensure data is private through AES-128 and ECC encryption, which allows you to easily encrypt and decrypt data, while also making the encryption key invisible for software users. With hardware-accelerated encryption, you can also reduce loads on the CPU, improving the gateway's performance.

Expanded functionalities to suit your needs
With multiple custom hardware options, Squid.link 2X allows you to expand the functionalities of the gateway. This way, you can tailor the gateway to fit your solution exactly how you want it to.
Extended range
To strengthen the range of your solution, you can add up to two external antenna connectors in the USB compartment. This enables you to place the gateway further away from other devices, making your solution work better in large spaces.
Battery backup
To keep your solution working in the event of power loss, Squid.link 2X also features an optional 1 to 3-hour battery backup, which can last up to 12 hours in low-power mode.
Tamper protection
You can enhance the security of your solution with tamper protection. By adding a three-axis accelerometer, the gateway can warn you if it is being tampered with or if its orientation has changed.
Track time and analyze sounds
Enable the gateway to track current time accurately while consuming little power with the Real-Time Clock (RTC) module with battery backup. Add a MEMS microphone and be able to detect and analyze sounds, such as noise from earthquakes.
Add RFID to your solution
The Squid.link 2X gives you the option to enable one of two optional RFID interfaces, either passive or active. The passive interface can be used to read credentials and data programmed in production, write configuration data to an unpowered gateway, among other data exchanges.
On the other hand, the active interface can be used as short distance interface for local communication purposes, such as reading and configuring access control tags, or being a secure interface for smartphones acting as a local user interface. The active interface is only operational when the gateway is powered on.
