Wireless Local Area Network
WLAN (also called WiFi) is a Wireless Local Area Network. The WLAN protocol is applicable for connecting internet-enabled devices over short distances (e.g. in homes or at offices).
The WLAN protocol uses high-frequency (2.4 GHz) radio signals to transmit data, which makes cables unnecessary. WiFi connects different internet-enabled devices through radio signals. WLAN is useful for IoT solutions with a need for a high data rate and a short distance between devices.
The WLAN protocol is quite secure, because data are encrypted, and wireless clients need to have their identity verified when joining a network.
Secure
WLAN uses data encryption and users have to be verified before use.
High data-rate
WLAN is very useful in IoT solutions where a high data-rate is needed.
Short distances
If devices needs to be close to each other, the WLAN-protocol is suitable.
The Squid.link gateways
The Squid.link gateways are an extremely flexible solution for connecting networks based on different technologies, including WLAN. The gateways are a modular platform for flexible Home Area Networks (HAN). With Squid.link gateways, you are no longer dependent on one vendor but can combine your Home Area Network exactly the way you prefer.
