Wireless Local Area Network
WLAN (also called WiFi) is a Wireless Local Area Network. The WLAN protocol is applicable for connecting internet-enabled devices over short distances (e.g. in homes or at offices).

The WLAN protocol is quite secure, because data are encrypted, and wireless clients need to have their identity verified when joining a network.
