GreenCOM

Ensuring a green and safe digital future

A broad Danish innovation platform to ensure greener and safer digital communication

The internet has changed the world, but its energy consumption is increasing rapidly making the internet a significant source of pollution.

At the same time, the expansion of the internet and digital communication technologies is an important tool and a prerequisite for achieving a green transition, as the internet ensures efficient operations in almost every societal institution and industry today.

Another threat for the growth of digital communication technologies is cyberattacks. As the use of internet expands globally, cyberattacks are getting more frequent and more serious with attacks against the EU tenfold in the last five years.

A unique research collaboration

The GreenCOM collaboration aims to further a digital infrastructure that enables internet connections to send much more data much faster, cheaper, safer, and greener than today.

The research project is a broad collaboration consisting of 18 companies, two universities, two research and technology organizations (GTS institutes), and two trade organizations that are producing 30 pathbreaking technology transfers to the industry to ensure more digitalization and a green transition at the same time.

When this technological innovation platform has been launched, it has the potential to reduce the electricity consumption in Denmark with up to 10%, even with a more digitalized society.

Develco Products is contributing to GreenCOM by providing IoT hardware and software infrastructure to further advance IoT technology and IoT security.
